| During Autumn 2009, Louise was invited to the 1st International Sculpture Symposium at the University of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune, India. To commemorate the International Year of Astronomy and the 400th anniversary of the great European astronomer and mathematician Galileo Galilei, Louise worked alongside sculptors Vincent Williams (Sweden), Michael Dan Archer (U.K.), Moises Preto Paulo (Portugal), Roberto Bricalli (Italy), Lena Kristrom (Sweden), Yvonne Nimar (Sweden), Caroline Ruizeveld (Netherlands), Suzel Galia (France) and Stefano Baccari (Sweden). Sculptors Sharad Kapuskar and Swati Kapuskar (India) co-ordinated the Symposium, together with Stefano Beccari and IUCAA. Each sculptor, working with local Indian Marble, created a sculpture inspired by the occasion. The works were gifted to IUCAA for permanent collection and display. |

"Taking part in this symposium gave me a wonderful opportunity to meet and learn from other professionals from around the world. To see, smell, taste, touch and hear glimpses of India's fascinatingly diverse and dynamic creative and cultural world."
Inspired by journeys of groups of planets and moons, she carved inwards, into and through the block to expose spaces between pathways. Revealed are impressions of planetary forms, evidence of meeting and parting. Her sculpture 'Abhal', a name meaning sky and vastness, contains energy, space and light held in a single form - a record that astronomical activity once existed in this place.
