Louise Plant was born in Doncaster. Upon completing a B.Ed Hons at Sheffield in 1982, she worked as a teacher, head of department and advisory teacher of physical education and contemporary dance in South Yorkshire. In 1991, she studied sculpture with the Open College of the Arts. Following further part time studies in art and sculpture, she chose to pursue a career as a full time sculptor in 1998.

In 2000 she was awarded the Arts Council England, Year of the Artist Award and in 2003 was elected an Associate of the Royal British Society of Sculptors (RBS). In 2006 Louise met Helaine Blumenfeld (VPRBS) who became her mentor and encouraged her development. Louise was awarded the Brian Mercer Scholarship at Studio Sem, Italy by the Royal British Society of Sculptors in 2007.

Louise has been commissioned to make sculpture by the RNIB Loughborough, Persimmon Homes Port Marine, Holiday Inn Poole, Cunard Shipping Company London, and George Farrar Quarries Derbyshire.

Her work has been exhibited at Clifford Chance London, The Headquarters of the Royal British Society of Sculptors London, Volterra Italy, The City Gallery Leicester, The Point Doncaster, The Usher Gallery Lincoln, Banks Mill Derby, Wysing Arts Cambridge and The Angel Row Nottingham.
