Louise Plant was born in Yorkshire, UK. Moving on from her role as head of department and advisory teacher of physical education and contemporary dance, in 1998 Louise gathered a small set of simple tools and began carving stone. The chicken and egg series began a relationship with sublime smooth forms.

Awarded the Arts Council England, Year of the Artist Award 2000, in 2003 Louise was elected Associate member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors. In 2006 Louise met Helaine Blumenfeld (VPRBS) who became her mentor and encouraged her development. Louise gained the prestigious Brian Mercer Award at Studio Sem, Italy in 2007 and delicate fluid marble sculptures ensued entitled Arched Forms. Co-existently, Louise worked to commission creating large works in corten steel, steel and English limestone.

Currently Louise is realising work in bronze and further, larger, politically inspired works such as Amarylla Guerrilla again in corten steel. Louise has recently won an important commission for the Ministry of Defence, to design, make and site a sculpture at the Northwood Headquarters in Middlesex, UK.
